The idiot box or more commonly known as the television or plainly, the TV, is taking a much bigger role of our lives. Is every story told, every picture we see, every fact that we learn, is what it truly is? Is there justification to what we see or hear from the tele? The answer is NO!
It is 100% up to our own judgement and common sense. I’m not talking about Star Wars and asking you to believe that there really is a Han Solo with his co-pilot, Chewbacca. You have to admit that we are just purely being receptive to every piece of information that is delivered to us, either for enjoyment’s sake or anything that pleases us.
Although some may argue that this is just a form of entertainment, but also, many will admit that the time spent watching the tele now is accounting to a staggering amount of our lives as compared to a decade ago. The luxury of the media is definitely clobbering the better part of us.
Is this how our culture is being developed? Do we act according to what we see and hear from the television? This is a question I have been wondering for a long time. What is moulding each respective culture? Where is the essence of our culture? Now, the world shares the same interest in TV programmes. What is shown in the
No doubt, as I’m writing this post, and as you’re reading it, we are indeed subjected to the media influence and fully utilising it with glee. But should we submit to the influence of what the media tells us?
I’m not sure how real subliminal messages are being broadcasted to us, but if it’s out there, we are bound to accept it. Or should we open our arms and welcome it?
